Clue Themed Custom Party at Historic Mansion

The Challenge...

Our client came to us with a unique problem...she was going to hold a housewarming party in the historic mansion she had just moved into, but wanted a way to work in the antique, room-sized safe they had discovered on an upper floor after moving in.  Her hope was to create a mystery that would result in the guests figuring out the combination of the safe, with the lucky winner being the person who ended up opening it first.  She also wanted a "CLUE" themed party that would incorporate several rooms throughout the house.

Our Solution...

We proposed a custom designed scavenger hunt to be played throughout the mansion during which the guests would interact with six characters from the familiar board game, solve a murder, and answer a series of riddles that eventually produced the combination to the safe.  Our team produced:

  • A full murder mystery script performed in several different spaces in the mansion.

  • Six professional actors in custom designed costumes.

  • Clue cards for each character with information and riddles that the guests received throughout the evening.

  • Custom notepads for note taking notes.

  • Lighting design for each of the spaces to coincide with the character names.

The Result...

As evening fell on a late October evening, 150 guests arrived at a beautiful 1920's mansion, dressed to the nines as some of their favorite mystery game characters.  As they enjoyed hors douvres and drinks, they began to notice that some of their fellow guests were acting mysteriously.  As the noise of laughter and chatter began to rise, an announcement was made..."Would everyone please join me in the ballroom?"  It was there that they discovered that their fellow guests were mysterious for a reason...they had a story to tell.  Conversations were had, accusations were made, and then a scream broke the night.  Everyone dashed to the library to see what had occurred:  and were confronted with a crime scene.  On the floor lay a man who had been perhaps stabbed, or shot, or perhaps hit over the head with a wrench...

It was then that they received their mission:  question the suspects, solve the riddles, and get to the bottom of the mystery.  The race was on as guests ran through the house, competing with each other to see who would solve the crime and break into the safe first.

Eventually, we told them what the solution was.  And we let our "dead body" get up off the floor and take a bow.
